Manufacturing Month is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. To match up with Manufacturing Day, which takes place on October 5th this year, the state of Ohio celebrates Manufacturing Month the entire month of October.
As one of the fastest-growing and most innovative manufacturing hubs in the country, Ohio companies and nonprofits use this opportunity to work together to change perceptions of the manufacturing industry and spark student interest in manufacturing careers. On our blog earlier this year, Allison Miller, Assistant Account Executive from Felber PR and Marketing, encouraged local companies to participate in Manufacturing Day to gain community recognition and improve their recruiting efforts. Last year, Ohio played host to nearly 200 Manufacturing Day events, and even more are being planned this year.
Join Manufacturing Works for Manufacturing Month
This year Manufacturing Works is holding a “Plant Tour” of Max S. Hayes High School to showcase the state-of-the-art facilities giving students the opportunity to earn credentials in multiple high-tech industries and the only high school in Cleveland to offer career technical training in manufacturing pathways. Attendees will see what the future workforce is learning and learn about the Max Hayes CNC Machining Pre-Apprenticeship—the first program of its kind in Northeast Ohio!
On October 24th we will help manufacturers better understand how to use their company culture and competency based training to recruit and retain talent. Make plans to join us in person from 8:00-10:00 a.m. to hear four local manufacturers talk about the ways culture is improving their companies and then join us for a free webinar on competency-based education with our friends over at Tooling-U, an industry leader in training and development.
Manufacturing Works plans to wrap up this year’s Manufacturing Month and year-long 30th Anniversary Celebration at our annual fundraiser—The Nuts and Bolts Bash— a benefit and silent auction at Cibreo Privato on November 8, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. This year's event will take you away for "A Night in Tuscany," to enjoy light Italian fare and tastings of your favorite Italian wines. Don't miss this chance to bid on dozens of fantastic unique Chinese and silent auction items! The event proceeds support Manufacturing Works and its mission driven programs which are helping to ensure a prosperous, connected manufacturing community in Greater Cleveland.
