Where Manufacturing Matters

Manufacturing Month Update: Nuts & Bolts Bash Recap

Posted by WIRE-Net on Oct 18, 2017 7:00:00 AM

The annual Nuts & Bolts Bash, presented for the fifth year in a row by Spooner Incorporated, is WIRE-Net's signature fundraiser that helped kick-off Manufacturing Month and launch our giving season with generous sponsorships and donations of in-kind prizes or cash contributions invested in our mission-driven activities. We're pleased to announce that on October 5th you helped us raise over $27,000 in net revenue, which was just shy of our $30,000 goal!

A special thank you is extended to our emcee for the night, Chip Kullik, the Resource Development Committee, who worked tirelessly to secure sponsorships and prize donations, and the 20 volunteers who helped with set-up, registration, wine pull, raffle and casino sales, and the Indians 50/50 board. Our volunteers are essential for the successful execution of this fund raising event!

161005NBB20.jpgMuch like last year, the event took place at Windows on the River, giving an inviting casino feel for our 150 guests to move around freely, bid on items part of this year’s silent auction, and try their (winning) hand for a chance at an Indians 50/50 raffle or to own donated items – a 43" smart TV, iPhone 8 sports package, Amazon Echo, Market Garden Brewery VIP tour and taste, and much more! New to this year’s event, we accepted advance online bids for silent auction items, which helped generate an additional $1,000 in donations. We hope to expand our online bidding capabilities for next year’s event.

In 2018 WIRE-Net will celebrate 30 years of strengthening manufacturing and inspiring the next generation of manufacturers. If you weren't able to join in the fun at this year's Bash, please make plans now to join us next year. In addition take a moment to make a donation to celebrate our organization that works tirelessly strengthen and expand Northeast Ohio's manufacturing industry.

Celebrate Manufacturing in Cleveland

WIRE-Net’s Nuts & Bolts Bash wasn't the only thing happening around town. There are a number of other activities taking place this month that showcase and celebrate our network and the industry. On October 13th WIRE-Net’s Cleveland Industrial Retention team (CIRI) worked with a local company to hold a “Meet and Greet” event for companies’ in Cleveland’s First District. An industrial maintenance apprenticeship cohort, part of WIRE-Net's apprenticeship consortium, kicked-off classes to help individuals learn the sought after skills area employers need. WIRE-Net concluded its strategic planning process and gathered its stakeholders for an update on WIRE-Net's 2020 Vision. And field experience events have been organized for students at Max Hayes High School to expose students to the opportunities that exist within manufacturing and bridge the gap between companies, teachers, students, and parents.

Looking Ahead to 2018...

We hope you take advantage of the valuable resources our rich member network has to offer not only this month, but all year long . . . to improve your operations, maintain profitability, develop employees’ skills, and find your next great team member. 2018 is just around the corner.
