Since 2003, WIRE-Net has recognized manufacturing leaders who demonstrate WIRE-Net's mission through their work and accomplishments. Mission Builder Award Winners are selected for their role in strengthening manufacturing in Northeast Ohio and supporting WIRE-Net's goals – to create healthy communities and fuel economic growth.
The four manufacturers being recognized this year come from small, medium, and large companies in very different manufacturing sectors. They are winners because they are committed to growing their businesses in Northeast Ohio, and have invested in themselves and in our community.
WIRE-Net will present Mission Builder Awards to these outstanding businesses on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at our Annual Meeting.
AT&F delivers quality steel products, services, and metalworking technologies to the heavy industrial, energy and defense industries. In 2015 AT&F added 185,000 square feet of manufacturing space in three locations, and added significant capital equipment to the inventory to continue to provide customers quality products that push the limits of precision, scope and size.
New equipment added in 2015 includes large gantry welding system, robotic welding cell, 6K bevel head laser, 5 axis CNC plasma cutting machine, water Jet cutting machine, and a unique rolling machine. These additions equate to more than $7 M in capital investments ($4.5 M in Northeast Ohio).
In business since 1940, AT&F has grown to become a preferred supplier of:
- Metal supply, fabrications, and services that push the limits of thickness, scale, and precision
- Materials processing
- Components for industrial, energy and defense industries
- Stainless steel and exotic alloy fabrication for corrosive environments
- Metallic and composite armor technology
Since their founding in 1942, Jergens, Inc. has grown to comprise three distinct business units: Workholding Solutions, Lifting Solutions, and Specialty Fasteners. The Jergens Manufacturing Campus in Cleveland is built on a 47-acre site, formerly an abandoned rail yard. Jergens, Inc. is committed to sustainability and urban renewal.
Today, you'll find their tooling components, fasteners, and hoist rings at work in just about every industry on every continent. Over 80% is manufactured right here in their 130,000 square-foot Cleveland facility. They were nominated for their leadership in technology development and distribution, and capital investment in new, high speed equipment to bolster the firm's competitive position. Jergens is committed to helping its customers achieve leaner, more profitable manufacturing, and continues to add products and engineered solutions for an integrated approach to manufacturing efficiency.
Jergens is also creating a win-win workforce solution for workers with disabilities, and provides scholarship funds to students continuing their tech careers in manufacturing.
Stripmatic Products, Inc.
Founded in Cleveland in 1946, Stripmatic Products, Inc. was purchase by Bill and Liz Adler in February of 1992. In 2011, SPI completely renovated an existing 60,000 square-foot facility in Cuyahoga Heights. with new lighting, air, electrical service, two crane systems, and a complete build out of the office space to satisfy current needs as well as to accommodate for planned growth.
Stripmatic Products, Inc. is a provider to the automotive and heavy truck industry of metal tubular shapes that are formed in a unique die process in stamping presses. They continue to engineer customized metal processing capabilities to develop close tolerance outside diameters, exceptional roundness and length tolerances.
Stripmatic is committed to Cleveland manufacturing and workforce development by providing strong support to Max S. Hayes High School manufacturing career pathways. They have been instrumental in the initial planning of an upcoming state certified pre-apprenticeship program; and provided students a plant tour, sponsorship, and guidance for the Max Hayes machining/welding robotics team.
Swift Filters, Inc.
Founded in 1957, Swift Filters, Inc. has grown rapidly in recent years. In 2011, the company was named the winner of its seventh Weatherhead 100 Award as one of the fastest-growing companies in Northeast Ohio.
The company designs and manufactures high quality industrial filter elements, including both custom-engineered and replacement filter products for the U.S. Department of Defense and private aerospace manufacturers. Its proprietary products include SwiftGreen™ filter elements, which are sold worldwide to the wind turbine industry for gearbox lubrication. Swift also designs and makes filter elements for the high performance racing industry, including fuel system filters for IRL®, NASCAR®. NTPA®, NHRA®, American Le Mans, Sprint Car, and Offshore Powerboat Competition.
All filter elements are manufactured in the USA at a new facility located in Oakwood Village where they tripled their footprint. They moved into their new facility in April of 2013 and have added 35+ new jobs since then. In September of 2014 they acquired JB Services International of Houston, TX and moved all production to Cleveland.
